So I’m either gonna try show them what it’s like in person and see if they change their opinion, or just stick with this thinkpad :)

my parents seem to like the idea of the 256GB MacBook Neo - a brand new with a year’s warranty, for ~£500 here. I just know that I won’t last on that.. @nikewrayy yeah exactly. i mean i never usually do anything that requires a TON of RAM, but it’s nice to have a ton of stuff open at once without having to worry.

i have an M2 base model Mac mini (8/256) and the issue is largely the 256GB storage, the 8GB RAM is actually just fine for me

@nikewrayy idk im so torn rn. this thinkpad isn’t even that bad, and i feel like the MBN might be good in the short-term, but idk what that 8GB RAM will be like in future… rn i have a T14S with 16GB and 1TB (once i swap out the SSD). i partly feel like i’m just doing it bc its a mac

@macciesshank3AM really? i tried looking a tiny bit on ebay but couldn’t see any configs like that for a reasonable price

ugh my mum doesn’t seem too fond on the idea which is fair enough ig (the thinkpad costed like half the price of this theoretical MBN price). i’m gonna go in the store later and ask what the student discount on the 512GB option would be.

brand new from apple too, so none of the sketchy BS we’ve had to put up with with this thinkpad from amazon renewed.
