on Android ig you can just use the default M*stdn app, and on desktop I recommend elk[.]zone :)
but yh, lmk in replies!
but yeah, lmk how many of you would be interested. it’d be only our friend group posting. to get started you can use a ton of great apps. on iOS i recommend Mona, or if you’re willing to pay, ‘Ivory’ (by the people who made @tweetbot before Twitter shutdown the APIs)
not set it up yet, but i do have a private instance running on @OwenDaBanana ’s server for a few weeks hehe (i’d prob host on some hosting providor though, unless i can get some real working version on owen’s servers :))
this means it will connect with services like M*stdon and Threads (by meta)
but you cna follow peolpe from almost all social services (including b sky if they have bridged their accounts).
if i hosted a small GoToSocial server for close friends, would many of you be interested?
a thread 🧵👇
what is gotosocial?
well it’s like twitter, except you can use any one of a ton of third party apps
it’s decentralised, meaning people run their own “servers” or (more commonly) “instances” of it.
