@uncreativetom @macciesshank3AM yeah but it’s a lot more optimised (my iPad 7th gen on iPadOS 18 has 3Gb ram total iirc and can run most apps “fine”)
@uncreativetom @macciesshank3AM I assume macOS uses more RAM when idle (no apps open etc on both) vs iPadOS..?
@uncreativetom @macciesshank3AM agreed
@uncreativetom @macciesshank3AM lol yeah good point
@uncreativetom @macciesshank3AM ALTHOUGH i feel like for £500/£600 whatever it turns out to be you could get a M2 MacBook air used/refurbished
@uncreativetom @macciesshank3AM yeah, i can’t wait to see the 1:1 comparison of these two, i am sure multiple youtubers (and regular benchmarks) will compare them
@uncreativetom @macciesshank3AM yeah that too
@macciesshank3AM @uncreativetom although tbf, my mac mini has 8GB, and whilst i regret not having 16, it only seems to fill up when i’m running local AI models or too many apps (over like 7-8 that are all actually doing smth)
but that’s before Liquid Glass comes along.. lol
@macciesshank3AM @uncreativetom yeah the RAM is my main concern. just last year apple were promoting that 8GB unified memory is designed more efficiently than the equivalent of RAM in a Windows machine in the same year they made 16GB unified the default… so this could mean that 8GB is in this
